ABs't'R,-cT, Uropathy asseciated with hydronephrosis was observed frequently in our male KK-AY mouse colony during long-term study of diabetes, The leslon occurred in 24 of the 3L KK-AY malc mice and accounted for the greatest number of spontaneeus deaths ameng them. It was observed aftcr 4 months of age and involved abeut hard plugs of altered seininal material resembLing the seminal vesicEe secretion. The plugs became impacted in the urethral bu]b and the bladdcr. The penite anatomy, with its fiexure, pressure on the urethra from the bulboeavernosus muscle, and the characteristic abillty of the serninal lluid to easily coagutate to form the vaginal plug may have con{ributed to the lesion.
